Mr. Hall came to Texas from Alabama as a teen ager. He first worked in the Piney Woods in a sawmill and then driving a chain drive log truck. When he came to Commerce he worked for Bill Mayes Grocery sweeping etc., and finally bought Bill Mayes out. He first operated a grocery store across the street from the College for many years. He moved his store to 1114 Main St. where he sold grocery items, feed and produce. He made deliveries in his Model T truck, and soon got the nickname "Stormy Hall" because of the early moring noise the truck made. He was still in business up to the week he passed away.
