Death of Edward Robson
Edward Robson was born in Hull England, 1818 and died January 11, 1901, being 83 years, 6 months and 12 days old. He was married to Miss Ann Tran, 1835 at Sutton, England and came to this country in 1842 and settled on a farm in Eaton near Grafton where he resided till the death of his wife, in 1896. Since that time, he has lived with his youngest son, at this place. Eleven children were born to them, five dying when quite young and two dying but a few years ago. Four are left to mourn for him.
Mrs. Lizzie Johnson, John Robson, of Grafton; Ted Robson, of Carlisle; and Fred of this place.
Mr. Robson and wife joined the Weslyan church in England, and after coming here, united with the M.E. church at LaPorte, but after the M.E.church was established at Grafton, united there, it being nearer for them to attend.
The last few years he has been unable to attend, but he remained true to his church and steadfast in his faith.
Mr. Robson was sick only three days but every thing was done for him to ease his pain. His two sons and a grand-daughter were present at his death bed, his daughter being unable to be there. The funeral was held at the brick school house, Sunday January 13. The pastor taking for his text Philipians 1st chapter and 21st verse. The LaPorte choir sang, "Asleep in Jesus", "Come unto me and rest", "I am going home to die no more". Mr. Robson was very well known and greatly respected and will be missed as he was a kind parent and an obliging neighbor. He was buried in the Butternut Ridge cemetery, by the side of his faithful wife, who walked with him over fifty years.
The family wishes to thank all who so kindly assisted in the care and at the death of their father and also the LaPorte choir for their services.
