Harold LaVern Benway was born in Chariton, on February 20, 1932 to Harry and Mary Dougherty Benway and passed away March 16, 1988 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 56 years.
Harold was united in marriage to Frances Savage and to this union one son, David, was born.
Harold spent his life as a truck driver retiring in 1981, and has spent the last three years doing lock work.
Surviving are his wife Frances of Chariton, his son David of Story City, brother Harvey of Melcher, and a sister Maymie Batman of Chariton; four grandchildren and one great-granchild.
Harold was a member of the Chariton Lodge No. 63 A.F. & A.M., the Sheriff Auxiliary, and Knights of Pythias.
Memorials are to American Cancer Society and Chariton Public Library.
