Death came to Mrs. Bessie Achen Treptow August 10, at 8:30 a.m. after a lingering illness, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joyce Goff in Alliance. A feeling of great personal loss comes to a score of people, with the passing of Mrs. Treptow, a quiet, sweet woman, sincere, hard working and dependable, a good wife and mother.

Mrs. Treptow, daughter of George and Rosa Thomas, was born in Thayer County, Neb., July 28, 1894, passing away at the age of 68 years and 12 days.

She was married to Ernest L. Achen in 1917, living in Chester, Neb. where they operated a drug store, later moved to Clay Center, then to Ord in 1924, where they made their home. Mr. Achen passed away in the winter of 1936. In 1945 she was married to Wm. Treptow at Manhattan Kans. Mr. Treptow died in 1952. Mrs. Treptow worked in a nurses capacity in the Ord Hospital until her illness in January, 1962.

Mrs. Treptow was a past matron of Mizpah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at Ord and at the present time held the office of Chaplin. She had the honor of receiving a 50-year membership pin in the Methodist Church and also was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Services.

She leaves to mourn her passing one son and four daughters: Armona Beth Martin, San Angelo, Tex.; Loretta Mae Taylor, Lexington, Ky.; Patricia Ann Larsen, Tucson, Ariz.; Willa Joyce Goff, Alliance; Earl Dean Achen, Lincoln; 15 grandchildren, and one step-daughter, Ruth Haught. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Mr. Achen, Mr. Treptow three brothers and two sister (sic). A brother was L.L. Thomas and a sister, Mrs. John S. Crouse, both of Chester.

Funeral services were held Aug. 13 at the Ord Methodist Church, Rev. Richard Atherton officiating. Rites conducted by Mizpah Chapter No. 56 O.E.S. Graveside services and interment at the Chester Cemetery, Rev. Atherton officiating.
