Harry Benway
Harry Lester Benway, son of James Eli and Marah Benway, was born in Lucas county, May 18, 1880, and departed this life Nov. 26, 1949, after a long illness, at the age of 69 years, six months, and eight days.
Mr. Benway was united in marriage to Myra Daugherty, Dec. 24, 1900, to which union were born six children. These were Lois, Jenny, Bill, Lester, Alice and Dorothy.
He was united in marriage to Mary L. Daugherty, Dec. 2, 1912, to this union seven children were born, Budd, Cleda, John, Maymie, Rex, Harold and Harvey. Mr. Benway united with the Christian church in Allerton in 1916. He was preceded in death by five children, Jenny, Cleda, Mrs. Lois Eatburn, Mrs. Dorothy Merrill, and John Benway.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Benway, one sister, Mrs. Della Wright of Fort Collins, Colo., and eight children, Bill, of Ackworth, Iowa, Lester of Ottumwa, Mrs. Bob Elwood of Bremerton, Wash., Budd of Ogden, Utah, Maymie, Rex, Harold and Harvey, all of Chariton, and seven grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.
Services in charge of the Rev. Aleck Ulmet, of the Church of the Nazerene were held Monday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Miley Funeral home. Burial was made at Allerton cemetery.
