Richard (Dick) K. Abercrombie, Sr, age 79 of Brookfield, died on Saturday, November 28, 2009. He was born on January 8, 1930 in Mars, Pa. to the late John and Marjorie Abercrombie. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953. He was a very familiar face on the Main St. of Danbury for many years while he and his wife, Helen, owned and operated "Second Hand Rose Consignment Shop." Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen (O'Connor) Abercrom-bie; two children, Debra Shutak and her husband, Paul and Richard Abercrombie Jr. and his wife. Jennifer; six grandchildren, Jennifer McDermott and her husband, Jim, Melissa Rose and her husband, Chris, Jacqueline Shutak, Richard Abercrombie III, Elizabeth Abercrombie, Katherine Abercrombie; one great-grandchild, Lindsey McDermott; two brothers, Lawrence Abercrombie and his wife, Hilary and Robert Abercrombie and his wife, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Abercrombie and Jay Abercrombie. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 12:30 at the Memorial Garden at the Congregational Church of Brookfield, 160 Whisconier Rd. Brookfield. Donations may be made in memory of Richard to the Disabled Veterans Association or the American Heart Association .
