Son of the American Revolution - Descendant of Amos Kniffin and Joshua Ward (1758-1833).

He was the son of William C. Kniffin (1800-1848) and Catherine Ward Kniffin (1791-1876).
On August 5, 1852 as G. Crawford Kniffen, he married Louisa Shaw at Bourbon, Kentucky.
They were the parents of Thomas Kniffin born about 1867 in New York.
