James Waldo Wood, 79, Kokomo, died 3:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Manorcare Healthcare Services. He was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Albany, Ky., to James E. and Amie (Cooksey) Wood. He married Beverly Carlile Wood in February 1954 in Kokomo and she preceded him in death in January of 1986. He then married Wanda M. McKinney Wood on Sept. 8, 1997, in Kokomo and she survives.

He was a W.W. II Army veteran, worked for Chrysler Corporation, Stellite Corporation and then retired from Delco Electronics. He attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of UAW 292. He loved to hunt and fish.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda M. Wood, Kokomo; son, Perry Wood, Kokomo; granddaughter, Jennifer Robinson, Delphi; four great-grandchildren, Jake, Brittney, Trevor, and Kelly Robinson; two sisters, Euthie and John Mumaugh, Center, and Emma Seward, Royal Center; mother-in-law, Izetta Carlile, Kokomo; four stepchildren, Linda Dockerty, Kokomo, Robert and Angela Pentland and Mark and Jeanene Pentland, all of Galveston, and Paula and Donald Lombard, Oklahoma; 11 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by first wife, parents, one brother, Lyman Wood; and one sister, Bercie Martin.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St. with the Rev. Jeff Sexton officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the funeral Thursday at the mortuary.
