ATHOL -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeannette (St. Germain) Jackson, 97, was held Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with the Rev. Fr. Frederick Fraini, III, associate pastor, officiating.

The organist was Theresa Gabis and the cantor was Elizabeth Hume. The pall was placed by granddaughters, Laura, Ashley, Katherine and Meredith.

The readings were read by granddaughters Natalie and Joanne and the gifts brought forward by granddaughters Sheryl and Colleen.

Memories were shared by the three daughters, Mary Ellen, Anne and Virginia.

Burial followed at Silver Lake Cemetery and the bearers were: Walter Doblecki, John Dresser, Michael Nevard, John Jackson, Benjamin Jackson and Jared Jackson.

A reception followed at the King Phillip Restaurant.

Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, directed arrangements.

ATHOL - Jeannette (St. Germain) Jackson, 97, of 51 Hospital Rd., formerly of Athol, died Friday, Dec. 04, 2009 at the Baldwinville Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Jeannette was born in Worcester, Sept. 17, 1912, the daughter of Henri and Parmena (Girard) St. Germain. She grew up in Webster, where she attended Bartlett High School. She graduated from the former Robert Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston in the early 1930's.

She married Raymond O. Jackson of Pomfret, CT in 1940. They made their home in Pomfret for the next 37 years where they raised six children. Jeannette was active in Democrat politics at the local and state level. She served on the Board of Education for the town as well as serving as Justice of the Peace for three terms. She also was the local town reporter for the now defunct Windham County Observer. She managed to continue work as a private duty nurse and eventually worked in the Labor and Delivery at Day Kimball Hospital. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Church and St. Monica's Guild while living in Connecticut and was active in the Pomfret P.T.A.

In her later years after she and her husband moved to Athol, Jeannette was a member and communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed traveling in the United States with her husband and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her husband of 53 years, Raymond O. Jackson, Sr., died Oct. 23, 1996. She leaves three sons; James P. Jackson, Raymond O. Jackson, Jr., and John W. Jackson, all of Athol; three daughters, Mary Ellen Doblecki of Gales Ferry, CT, Anne Nevard of San Francisco, CA and Virginia Dresser of Hanover, NH. She was the loving and proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters and one brother, Lucille Charbonneau of Pittsfield, MA, Lorraine Parmentier of Zephyr Hills, FL, Muriel Schmidt of Webster and Wilfred St. Germain of Sandwich, MA. Three sisters and three brothers predeceased her.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 8, from Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main St., Athol with burial following at Silver Lake Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Dec. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, and from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday.
