Carrie died Sunday at the Westgate Nursing Home in Hereford. She was a charter member of the Hereford Riding Club and a member of the Vega First United Methodist Church. She had lead the Oldham County Roundup Parade with her husband (Mel Stewart) for about 24 years.

Carrie's services were held at 11 a.m. today in Vega First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene Wisdom, pastor, and the Rev. Jordan Grooms of Hereford officiating.

Carrie was born in Gainsville and moved to the Ford Community to teach school in 1910. In 1912 Carrie married Mel Stewart. They farmed and ranched in the Ford Community before moving to Vega.

In addition to her husband Mel, Carries obit lists the following survivors: two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hicks of Hereford and Mrs. Melvina Sandrow of Phoneix, Ariz.; two brothers, W. N. Taylor of Lamar, Mo., and Paul Taylor of Dallas; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
