A son of Rev. War veteran John Lepper by his second wife Mary Prime/Braeme, who were married Aug.28, 1803 at Stone Arabia, NY. Lutheran church.

Ira married Phylinda Walrod Jan.28,1847 at DeWitt, Ia. She was born Sept.17, 1828, dau of Johannes Walrath/John Walrod and Leah Bradt in NY,and died July 22, 1914 at Sioux City, Ia. According to his obit. the family moved to Iowa Terr. in 1839 and settled in what became Clinton Co. He moved to Leeds, Ia. in 1885. The funeral was held in the residence and burial was in the Floyd Cemetery.

The 1880 census shows grandchildren Carl B. Hoffman, 6, and Pearlie A. Hoffman, 5, living with them and attending school.
