Mrs. Maria Whittington dies on Brevard Road
Mrs. Maria Whittington, aged 72, died Friday morning at the home of her brother-in-law W. A. McGlamery., 17 Brevard Road. Mrs. Whittington had been in declining health for several years and several days ago suffered a stroke of paralysis. She is survived by an uncle, L. W. Vannoy, of Wilkes County, and other more distant relatives. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, the Rev. J. B. Grice, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers will be J.C. Penland, J. W. McElroy, W. J Ford, B. C. Waldron, G. W. Fairchild and A. B. Bishop.
