US Congressman. Son of Ephraim W. and Nancy (Braun) Mondell. Went to Mo. and Iowa public schools; moved to Wyoming. He married Ida Harris, of Laramie, Wyo., May 13, 1899. He was elected mayor of Newcastle, Wyoming in 1888 and served until 1895. He also served as a member of the first Wyoming state senate in 1890 and was president of the second senate in 1892. He served as a Wyoming delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1892, 1900, 1904, 1908, and 1912. He was elected to represent Wyoming at-large from 1895 to 1897. After an unsuccessful reelection in 1896, he was appointed as assistant commissioner of the General Land Office on November 15, 1897, and served until 1899. He was elected again to represent Wyoming and served from 1899 to 1923. He was an unsuccessful candidate for US Senator in 1922. In 1924, he served as chairman of the Republican National. He was appointed director of the War Finance Corporation in 1923 and served until his resignation in July 1925.
