Kenneth was united in marriage to Fayetta (Elkins) in March in 1990 at the Goreville United Methodist Church. She survives.
Other survivors include: a Daughter – Pat Shapiro, & her husband Roger, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; a Stepson – Gregory Elkins of Carbondale, IL; 5 Grandchildren – Karen, Ken, Kelli, Michael & Christine; 5 Great Grandchildren – Ryan, Madison, Kristen, Timothy, & Leslie; a Brother – J.D. Ballard of Goreville, IL; a Daughter-in-Law – Barbara Ballard; a Niece – Gloria Fowler. In addition to his Parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by: a Son – William Lee Ballard.
Kenneth was a Vienna High School graduate. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. Kenneth was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Kenneth taught in the Johnson County Public School System. He was then employed as Deputy Commander, and later Comptroller, of the U.S. Army Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Kenneth was a member of the Goreville United Methodist Church, and the Goreville Senior Citizens. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, family reunions and spending time with his family. Kenneth was a loving and generous Husband, Father & Grandfather.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, November 26, 2004, at 2 PM at the Goreville United Methodist Church (corner of S. Fly Ave. & W. Adams St.) Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Buncombe, Illinois. Friends may call from 11 AM – 2 PM Friday at the Goreville United Methodist Church.
