Bessie A. Anderson, age 100, of Stratford, passed away at the Stratford Care Center in Stratford on Saturday, May 25, 1991, where she had been a resident since 1985.

She was born August 30, 1890, north of Stratford, the daughter of Peter and Anna Olson Berglund. On March 9, 1909, she married David Anderson in Boone, Iowa. He passed away in 1925. On June 17, 1938, she married Luther Anderson in Boone, Iowa. He passed away in 1948.

She was a homemaker and was librarian at the Stratford Library for a number of years. She was a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church and a Gold Star mother of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two sons, one brother and six sisters.

Survivors include four daughters, Helen Burgeson of West Des Moines; Eunice Borg of Pleasantville, N.Y.; Mary Larson and Eileen Larson, both of Stratford; one sister, Mellie Erickson of Stratford; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Stratford Lutheran Church with Rev. Jenny Edinger officiating. Interment was in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery, west of Ridgeport, Iowa.

Organist was Ardelle Phipps; flower ladies, Margaret Crim and Lois Swanson and pallbearers were: William Larson, Roger Larson, Daniel Larson, John Larson, Phillip Larson and Greg Larson.
