Buried at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington, MO: James was born in Ellington, Missouri on Feb. 7, 1867 to Alexander & Marguerite (nee Zolman) Moore (both are buried at the Zolman Cemetery, north of Farmington). JW (as known by the family) was an operating engineer in the lead mines, had owned a service station, and held numerous other postions. He lived most of his life in and around Flat River and Farmington, MO.

JW had married twice in his lifetime. He first married Ophelia Lillian Bran on Feb. 22, 1891. Ophelia was the daughter of McArthur & Sarah Mecca (nee Zolman) Bran. Sarah along with JW's mother Margaret (nee Zolman) Moore were granddaughters of Philip & Elizabeth Zolman, making JW & Ophelia second cousins. View their marriage record at web-link Elder Wm Coffer Marriage Book, first page of 21 pages. Note on this record, the witness Jessie Zolman was JW's 1st cousin, one time removed (his mother, Margaret Zolman's 1st cousin) and the other witness, William Green, was his brother-in-law marrying JW's sister, Addie Moore Green. To the mariage of JW & Ophelia they had at least 2 children: Oscar Moore & Walter Clarence Moore. There might had been a third child. It was thought from family records Ophelia (nee Bran) Moore passed away circa 1900 but they actually divorced. Ophelia was recorded in the 1910 US Federal Census as head of house with youngest son Walter in St. Louis. When Walter died in 1923 in St. Louis, Ophelia was the informant on his death certificate as "Ophelia Rine" of Chicago, Illinois.
See Walter C. Moore's death certificate at the Missouri Digital Heritage web-site, obituary at Mackley Genealogy.com.

JW second marriage was to Phebe [Phoebe] McNew on April 23, 1902 by the Rev. E.V. Lamb at Flat River, MO (Later to become Park Hills, MO). JW & Phoebe had 10 children:
1) Ruby Velma Moore {1904-1985; married/divorced John Geissler}
2) Marie Thelma Moore {1905-1997; married Emmett "Mac" McNeilly}

4) Arthur William "Ash" Moore {1910-1985; married Carlotta "Lottie" Payne}
