"Harry G. Althaus, 73, a native of Gillespie County, Tex., died suddenly Monday night at his home in Alamogordo. For 35 years, from 1922 to 1957, Mr. Althaus was in the supply department of the (then) Veterans Administration Hospital at Fort Bayard. From there he moved to Alamogordo where he managed the Country Club from 1957 to 1960. He served as manager of the Country Club at Anthony from 1961 to 1964. Upon his retirement he returned to Alamogordo. Mr. Althaus was a World War I veteran, serving overseas with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Veterans of WWI, the American Legion and the 40 & 8 Society. Survivors of the deceased include his widow, Mrs. Emily Althaus of Alamogordo; a son, Harry F. Althaus of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Lee and Mrs. Mary Jane MacDowell, both of Alamogordo; six grandchildren; a brother, Walter Althaus of McNeil, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs. Frieda Rogers of Lebanon, Ariz. Funeral services are to be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) in the chapel of the Mullins-Hamilton Funeral Home in Alamogordo with interment to follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Lee Huebert, minister of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate. "
