Timothy was a Veterinary Surgeon in Blofield, Norfolk County, England. He was educated at the Royal Veterinary College at Middlesex County, London, England. He graduated about 1830.

Timothy married Harriet Shalders Walpole on October 13, 1832, St Saviour Parish, Norwich, Norfolk, England. Harriet Walpole was the daughter of Jonas Walpole, veterinarian.

There were 12 children: Sarah Ann, Timothy, William, Elizabeth, John, Lydia, William, Robert Walpole, Timothy Edward, Richard Samuel, Louisa Georgina and Frederick John.

For a time, Timothy joined the Veterinary Practice of his father-in-law, Jonas Walpole.

On the 1851,1861, 1871 and 1881 British Census the family address was given as #5 Colemans Road, Blofield, Norfolk, England, or as Hemblington Corner. The family home which they established was large and included a veterinary clinic.

Timothy Coleman was a prominent member of his community. The following obituary was published in the Veterinary Journal and Annals of Comparative Pathology, p. 299.

"Mr. Timothy Coleman, M.R.C.V.S., of Blofield, Norfolk, died on March 11, aged seventy-five years, having graduated. He had been in extensive and successful practice in the county of Norfolk for the long period of fifty years, during which he enjoyed the universal confidence and esteem of all with whom he had dealings. He was a just and upright man, and generous almost to a fault. By his death the rich in his locality have lost a wise counsellor and the poor a never-failing friend. By his death a widow and numerous family are left to lament their loss."
