Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services were November 11th at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary with Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating. Burial was at Armada Cemetery, Miller. Military rites at the grave were provided by the Miller American Legion.
Mr. Stevens was born May 21, 1920 in Miller to Joseph and Carrie (Stabler) Stevens. He grew up in the Miller area and attended District 111 School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. On July 5, 1944 he married Jeanne Day in Smith Center, KS. He and his wife lived in Miller where he farmed. They moved to Litchfield in 1964. He had worked for Zero Hereford Ranch and Rockwell International in Kearney. They moved back to Miller in 1970 and he worked for Bowie Fertilizer, Inc. He attended the Grandview Church and was a member of the Miller American Legion and the Miller Senior Citizens. He enjoyed his work with the land and gardening.
He leaves to mourn wife: Jeanne Stevens, Miller; sons: Glen and his wife, Joanne Stevens; Gene and his wife Di Stevens; LeRoy and his wife, Peggy Stevens; daughters: Sharon and husband Dennis Hill; Donna and husband Raymond Williams; and Helen Stevens; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Joseph in 1995; 2 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
