Hammer Rites

ELKTON, Jan. 24 — A large throng attended the Samuel P. Hammer funeral rites from the Elkton EUB Church Sunday. The floral offering was beautiful. The Rev. W. J. Westfall officiated and burial was in Elk Run cemetery.

Mr. Hammer who died at the Newman Nursing home at Grottoes, had been ill for some time.

He was a member of one of the best known families in this area. Among his brother was the late Charles A. Hammer, Harrisonburg postmaster.

He is survived by a brother, Wilmer I. Hammer and a sister, Miss Annie Hammer, of Harrisonburg. The pallbearers were L. C. Meadows, Irving Herring, Erasmus Hensley, Dennis Monger, Earl Life and Herman Longley.

He was a son of Joseph C. and Florence Margaret Sandridge.
