MANN, JAMES, farmer, S. 25; P. O. Stanwood; born in Scotland in 1835; came to this county in 1856; owns 80 acres. He married Miss Isabella Safley in 1864; she was born in thIs county, her parents being among the earliest settlers.

He enlisted in the 2d I. V. C. during the late war, and served between three and four years, and was in the battles of Nashville, Corinth and Iuka. Has six children-Mary M., Willie A., Bessie, Annie, Agnes, Charles James, and John Safley.

Wounded at the Battle of West Point, Mississippi, Feb 22, 1864. Re-enlisted and re-mustered March 1, 1864. Wounded severely Dec. 17, 1864, after the Battle of Nashville at Little Harpeth, Tenn. Discharged for disability June 14, 186.5, Keokuk, Iowa.
