Paul Kerr Conner was born May 15, 1898 in Archer County, Texas, the son of Coffee Rice Conner and Florence Hubbard. He grew up in Archer County and was a graduate of Archer City High School. He graduated from Southern Methodist University of Texas Medical School in Galveston in 1925. He served his internship at Robert B. Green Hospital in San Antonio. He began his private practice in Archer City in 1925 and remained there until coming to Jacksboro in 1937. He practiced medicine in Jacksboro until his retirement in 1976. It was a partnership with Dr. T. C. McCurdy. The two founded the Archer County Hospital in 1927. In a few years the partnership dissolved, and Dr. Conner located in Jacksboro where he is connected with the Jacksboro Clinic.

During his medical school years, Dr. Conner developed an artistic talent and his anatomical sketches remained in use for 25 years. He retained an avid interest in art, music, and travel. He taught art to many residents of the area and played the piano at the First united Methodist Church, of which he was a member, for many years. He held several art shows and many of his paintings are in homes in the area.

Dr. Conner was active in medical circles including the Texas Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He was presented the Outstanding Community Service Award by the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce in 1970. He was a member of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Country Club. His greatest love was his art, reading and many world travels. He died October 8, 1977 and is buried at the Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro.
