Mrs. Amy Elizabeth Salter, 147 Bird Street, Phillips, was found dead in her home Monday afternoon about 4 o'clock by her two small children, who called neighbors to the scene. A note was found which stated that she thought her action was the best way out and requested that her two small children be sent to Summers, Ark. to stay with her mother, Justice of Peace Judge G.C. Knight stated.

A 22-calibre rifle was found beside the body with one shell in the gun discharged, Sheriff Lale Lane said this morning.

Her husband preceded her in death in March this year and it was thought by police that she was despondent over his death.

She is survived by two sons, Charles and David Thomas; mother, Mrs. Mary Nichols of Summers, Ark.; seven sisters, Mrs. Minnie Blanton, Mrs. Clara Smith, both of Summers; Mrs. May Davis, DeQueen, Ark.; Mrs. Ida Quick, Dallas; Mrs. Hazel Davis, Erick, Okla., and Mrs. Ruby Detiveaux of Amarillo and one brother, Emmett Nichols of Lincoln, Ark.
