Mrs. Elizabeth Collins, one of the old residents of Howell County died on Wednesday of last week at the home of her brother Jack Lamons in the south part of the county. She was aged 81 years 1 month and 16 days. For a number of years she has been an invalid suffering with rheumatism.

She was born march 27, 1934 in Morgan Co. Alabama to Peter Jackson Lamons and Sarah E. West. She was married to Jesse Collins in December 1855. In June 1868, she moved to Howell County with her family and has since resided here. She is the mother of five children, four of whom survive. They are Peter Collins, in West Plains, Ida Falconer of Arkansas, Sue Logan of Arkansas and Della Nelson of Lebo, Missouri. Four brothers and two sisters, Thomas Lamons, Jack Lamons, Susan Briscoe, Dr. Jim Lamons of Oklahoma City, Reverend H.J Lamons of Kansas and Minerva Pool of Oklahoma.

Early in life she joined the missionary Baptist church and has been a true christen she was good to her family, friends, and neighbors. In addition to rearing a large family of children, she cared for several orphans and was a willing worker for all good causes. Her relatives and friends who have known her for a great many years will miss her.
