Rhoda loved the community of Marcelina where she was born and grew up. She married there and moved away, but she returned often for the homecomings. She made sure her children and grandchildren were told the stories of her happy years at the small church and school at Marcelina. She had plans to be buried in San Antonio next to her parents, but shortly before she died, she let her family know she had changed her mind. She chose the small cemetery where both sets of grandparents and numerous family members were buried.
