Grace Emmeline (Abbott) Booth, 53, died in Ward Memorial Hospital at 3:20 p.m., 12 Apr 1968, after being in ill health for about six months.
Services were held at 3:00 p.m. 14 Apr 1968 at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. J. R. Bunts officiating, with burial following in Monahans Cemetery.
Mrs. Booth, the daughter of Wesley Watson and Emmaline (Scott) Abbott, was born 27 Sep 1914 in New Westminster, British Columbia.
Grace came to Monahans with her husband, Alan Booth, in December of 1945. George Allen Booth passed away 3 Sep 1965.
Grace's obit says that she had a beautiful singing voice and was alto soloist for the choir and for many musical events in Monahans over the years. Grace was honored with a life Membership in the Women's Society of Christian Service and served as president of Wesleyan Guild in 1967.
Grace's obit also says that she taught in the Kindergarten Department of the Methodist Sunday School. And that after her children were older, she began teaching in Wickett School and later taught third grad at Edwards School until her retirement.
Grace and Allen had two children both of whom survive: John Allan Booth and Margaret Elaine Booth. Grace was also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Sprock of Forth Worth and Mrs. Mary Rattan of Dallas, and three brothers, Melvin Abbott of Rebelstake, British Columbia and John and Harold Abbott, both of Fort Worth.
