He was born June 16, 1906 in Washington, Utah to John Albert and Barbara Rosina Stucki Tobler. He married Itha Neilson September 12, 1929 in St. George, Utah. As an active member of the L.D.S. Church he served as bishop's counselor, bishop, high counselor and temple worker in both the St. George and Provo Temples, missionary work was very important to him. He served as a stake missionary and he and his sweet wife served two missions together in the Missouri, Independence Mission and then to the Manti Temple Visitors Center.
For almost 50 years he was a progressive farmer in Utah's Dixie. He moved to Orem, Utah in 1964 to be closer to his children. Here he started a new career as a realtor. He was very successful in this endeavor as he had been in farming. Archie's greatest source of pride was his large family. To them and his many friends he left a legacy of love and devotion. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, five sons and three daughters, Archie Leon (Geneil) Salt Lake City; John Darwin (Sandra), Sandy; Richard Garland (Linda) of Orem; Merlin Duane (Gayle) of O'Fallon, Illinois; Michael Jay (Karen) of Caliente, Nevada; Maralene (Don) Terry, Springville; and two daughters and their husbands serving missions, Bonita (Junius) Bennion,Winnipeg, Canada; and Sharlene (Berl) Gordon Buenos Aires South, Argentina; 54 grandchildren, 123 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters, Clark, Washington, Utah; Vera Ballard, Hurricane, Utah; Thora Sorenson, Shilo, Arizona and Neola McCall; Centerville, Utah. He was preceded in death by one brother Earnest Tobler, sisters, Ella Hall, Pearl Turner, Lula Whitney, baby sister, Carrie, a grandson, Weston Tobler and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 18, 1996 at 11 a.m.in the Sharon Park 4th Ward Chapel, 150 East 600 North in Orem. Friends may call Friday May 17, 1996 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Interment: Orem City Cemetery.
