Obituary:

William Steadman Copeland, age 79, of Iberia, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield. He was born on January 2, 1930, in Maries County, son of the late Gussie and Lizzie (Barnhart) Copeland. On July 1, 1953, in Miller County, William married Flora Mae Wilson, who survives at the home.

William served in the Army for two years and was a member of the American Legion. He drove a school bus for Iberia R-V for many years. William enjoyed his family and friends, and especially liked watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

He is also survived by two daughters, Tammy Copeland of Iberia and Jan Hammack and husband Kelly of Iberia; five grandchildren, Randi Rowden and husband Terry, Seth Schuster, Dylan Apperson, Riley Hammack, and Kelsey Hammack; and seven great-grandchildren, Luke, Chris, Braidon, Atiera, Tarra, Evan, and Isaac.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Ron Orr will officiate. Interment will be in Stokes Cemetery near Meta. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, at the funeral home.
