Darlene J. Jacob, 83, of Osage Beach, Mo., formerly of Melbourne, Iowa, passed away, Friday, March 18, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2011, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care in Marshalltown. Interment will be at the Melbourne cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
Darlene was born May 18, 1927, to Carl A. and Anna (Price) Milleson in Prairie City, Iowa. She graduated from Melbourne High School. She was united in marriage to Ernest Jacob on Dec. 30, 1945, in State Center, Iowa. He died on Feb. 3, 1999. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ. Darlene spent most of her life in the Melbourne area, moving to Andrew, Iowa, in 2000, and then relocating to Osage Beach, Mo., in 2008. She enjoyed playing cards, babysitting kids and her crafts. She crocheted snowflakes and made Barbie clothes.
She will be missed by her children; four children, Carl (Susan) Jacob of Charles City, Iowa, Terry (Julie) Jacob of Osage Beach, Mo., Glenda (Kevin) Cornelius of Bellevue, Iowa, Kevin (Lisa Wells) Jacob of Des Moines, Iowa, eight grandchildren; Jennifer Jacob, Leah (Jon) Beeman, Abby (Matthew) Kaschmitter, Aimee Abbott, Jacob Cornelius, Jason Cornelius, Zachery Jacob, Matthew Jacob, twin great-granddaughters; Kenzie and Avery Kaschmitter, one brother, Roscoe (Romona) Milleson of Colo, Iowa, and two sisters, Irma Plate of Ventura, Calif., and Betty (Bill ) Fink, of Tucson, Ariz., She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Lousie Luthie and Helen Perin.
