Mrs. Myers retired from Union Carbide Corp where she was a chemical operator at Y-12. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the United Church Chapel on the Hill for many years. She was active with the AARP and the Senior Center and she enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Myers in 1976; a son, Herman Myers and daughter, Joyce Powers.
She is survived by:
Daughter, Marilyn Shumpert and husband John of Oak Ridge;
Son-in-law, Bob Powers,
Grandchildren, Cathy Householder and husband Earl, John H. Shumpert and wife Angela, Rick Powers and Tracy Stout-Powers;
Great Grandchildren, Josh Householder, Courtney Lake, Kristen Shumpert, Brooke Shumpert, Colton Stout and Conor Powers;
Great-great Grandchildren, Makenzie Lake and Jayden Lake;
Step-granddaughter, Patty Scott and husband Ben and
Several step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2:00pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating.
