Allen (Al) Emery Apsey of Reed City, Michigan, entered eternal life on Wednesday December 9, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Reed City after a short battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.

Allen was born January 5, 1942 in Cedar Township to Joseph Earl Apsey and Joyce Marie Sturdavant and lived on the family farm all of his life. He was raised in the Reed City area and was a 1960 graduate of Reed City High School. Upon his high school graduation he enlisted in the National Guard serving until 1962.

On June 29, 1963 he was married to Joyce Marie Allen in Reed City who survives. He returned to the area after serving and worked for a time with Good Housekeeping in Big Rapids and the Men's Store in Reed City. He was employed with ANR Pipeline (Coastal Corp.) in 1981 retiring in 2001 to work his ancestral farm. He loved his family, friends, and farming and never missed coffee in the mornings with his good friends. He enjoyed gambling, and with Joyce spent a lot of time traveling and watching every penny spent. He loved attending sporting events especially when his children or grandchildren were playing. The musical talents of his granddaughter were a source of pride for him and he never tired of listening to her play and bragging that her talent had obviously come from him.

Allen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Marie Apsey of Cedar Twp.; sons Mark (Sandra) Apsey of Sears, Robert (Shirley) Apsey of Reed City; daughter Christine (Martin) Mund of Reed City; grandchildren Brian, Ryan, Kyle, Rachel, Trevor, and Spencer; sister Joan (Al) Rohe of Reed City; brother Eldon Apsey of Reed City; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also leaving a dear friend in Nelson (Dutch) Van Leeuwen.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard and John Apsey; and his infant daughter Lori Lynn. He will be deeply missed by all.
