Born April 30, 1935, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Dock Pearson and Mary Scruggs Pearson. He last worked at Dicey Fabric.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Macie King Pearson; five sisters, Ruby Bayers, Lenora Pearson, Ellen Bradley, Pauline Hamrick and Dorothy Bridges; two brothers, Buford Pearson and Doyle Pearson; and a brother-in-law, Robert King.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Pearson and wife, Thelma, of Shelby and Ronnie Pearson of Earl; a daughter, Mary Whaley and husband, David, of Shelby; two sisters, Daisey Willis and husband, Charles, of Shelby, and Nellie Bumgardner of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Archie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Randy and Thelma Pearson, 2412 Shoal Creek Church Road, Shelby.
