ASHE, Francis "Frank" James Born in Alameda, Calif., on April 5, 1920. Passed away after a lengthy illness on December 6, 2009, at the age of 89. Survived by sons David (Ruth), Scott (Madeleine) of Petaluma, Calif., Robert from Sherman Oaks, Calif., and daughter Elizabeth (Dean) Sheppard of Palmdale, his five grandchildren Jessica, Miranda, Erin, Cody and Christin along with many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois,
his sister Catherine Karson, his mother Catherine and father James. Frank was an avid golfer throughout his life and would play a couple times a week until his health prevented him from playing. In his younger years he enjoyed running, and league bowling as a member of the AV Mens Bowling Association at the old AV Bowl. Frank retired in 1983, from General Electric Aircraft Engine Division, but before that held many positions throughout the aircraft industry with Consolidated Airways, Northrup and Pacific Overseas Airways. In retirement he would spend as much time with his grandkids as he could and loved the yearly family houseboat trips at Lake Shasta. He also spent many hours with his favorite hobbies genealogy, metal detecting and drawing. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the Alzheimer Association at www.alz.org or American Sleep Medicine Foundation at www.discoversleep.org. Viewing will be held from 3 to 4 p.m., with a short service beginning at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Halley- Olsen-Murphy, Lancaster.
