She was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Chattaroy, Wash., to George and Sarah (Matteson) Adams. The family moved to the local area 86 years ago and Ellen attended Kelso schools.
On Nov. 12, 1932, she married Alonzo "Lonnie" Bruce in Kelso and became a homemaker. Lonnie preceded her in death.
Ellen was sweet, loving and caring. She enjoyed traveling to visit friends and relatives and camping at the beach and in the mountains. For the past eight years, Ellen enjoyed making friends at the Canterbury Chateau.
She is survived by a daughter, Marlene Massey (Don) of Warden, Wash.; three sons, Lonnie Al Bruce (Alice) of Kelso, Gerold George Bruce (Nancy) of Addy, Wash., and Robert Joe Bruce (Dawn) of Snohomish, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and innumerable extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory with Bob Anderson and Leota Wilkerson officiating. Viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
