Doucette --- Funeral service for W.T. Scroggins 75, of Doucette, Texas were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 19,1993, from Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother Durl Patrick, Pastor of the Katy Baptist church and Brother E. Jones, a long time family friend officiating.
Burial followed in Camp Ground Cemetery near Woodville.
Mr. Scroggins died June 17, at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.
A former longtime resident of Beaumont, Mr. Scroggins had resident in Doucette for 17 years. He was a retired mechanic for Centex Concrete in Beaumont with 30 years of service and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Helen Louise Jones Scroggins of Doucette; One son Charles and wife Pat Scroggins of Doucette, four daughters, Norvelle and husband Jesse Rogers of Wildwood, Jean and husband Billy Bumstead of Woodville, Carolyn and husband Ray Lawson of DeRidder, LA. and Tommie Sue Smith of Doucette. 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wayvard Thomas Scroggins, Charles E.'Chip' Scroggins, Jefferson Moore III, Wayne 'Corky' Lawson, Timothy E. Scroggins, Charles Adkins, Pete Wilson and Jerry Bumstead.
Riley Funeral Home of Woodville directed the arrangements. Wayvard Thomas was the son of Eugene Jefferson Scroggins and Alice Mariah (Key) Scroggins. Born January 12,1918 in Navarro Co., Texas.
He was married to Helen Louise Jones October 21, 1938 at Saratoga, Harden Co., Texas. They had five children Madelene Norvelle, Lois Jean, Charles Edwin, Carolyn Louise and Tommie Sue.
