Miss Mary Irene Blackburn, 75, of Eldon, died Monday, March 7, 1983 at Memorial Community Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born Dec. 31, 1907 at Tuscumbia to Clarence L. and Rosa Myrtle Harris Blackburn. Miss Blackburn was a member of the Eldon First Baptist Church and its Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She was a lifelong resident of Miller County.
Surviving her are: a sister, Mrs. Louis (Helen) Apperson of Eldon; two nephews, Larry Apperson of Eldon and Dr. James Blackburn of Birmingham, Ala.; and two nieces, Alvia George of Jefferson City and Priscilla Walkup of Blue Springs. A brother, James Lee Blackburn, died on March 21, 1977.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. James Westmoreland and the Rev. Arnim Ray officiating. Visitation was held from 2 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial was in the Tuscumbia Cemetery.
