Casey was a strong, independant man. I respected him for many reasons. I wanted to share some of those reasons with all of you.

Casey was a hard worker and he liked to work. He was probably happiest when he was working. One of the reasons he liked living in Alabama was the weather is milder, not like Kansas in winter, where he worked even with icicles hung from his beard and mustache.

Casey was the father of two beautiful children and he loved them very much. He wanted them to grow up with health and innocence and he wished too that he knew them better.

Casey never asked for favors. He wanted to pay his own way. He would not let you buy him lunch, do his laundry, work on his truck, UNTIL he had exhausted all the resources available to himself first.

Casey was a loyal friend. He thought Norman was one of the smartest people he knew. He told me once, "Norman can fix anything, absolutely anything."

Casey wasn't a big joker, but had rather a "dry sense of humor" that to my mind made things that were funny even funnier. For instance:

Casey once dropped a 'diet sprite' in my kitchen and we have been recommending it as the 'perfect cleaning solution' ever since. Casey and Pat gave me a nickname. They said: "have you ever heard of Feng Shui, well Pam is so mean she is Evil Shui.

Casey and I both grew up eating hot cereals for breakfast..things like Cream of Wheat and Malt-o-Meal, we both hate, it became my favorite thing to offer him..he would say...sure, make me a couple of bowls.

When I first met Casey he was my son Norman's friend. Then cancer took us all on a long journey and near the end he became my friend too.

I don't think Casey was a big Frank Sinatra fan, he leaned more towards Metallica..but I thought these lyrics fit him perfectly. So I ask his forgiveness and your indulgence:

And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way!
