Son of the late Albert Fair and Abbie Elizabeth Cell Nutter, he graduated from Waynoka High School in 1947. He served the U.S. Air Force. He married Ruth Ella Golbek on July 21, 1955. They moved to a farm north of Waynoka, where he farmed and ranched. He worked as a contract pumper for several companies over the years. He and his brother helped pioneer the ostrich industry in the 1980s in Woods County. He attended Morning Star Baptist Church most of his life and later held membership in the First Christian Church of Waynoka. He was survived by his wife; four daughters, Cathy Hummel, Karen Watson, Sharon Inman and Ellie Waggoner; four brothers, Aaron Nutter, Donald Nutter, Paul Nutter and Larry Nutter; two sisters, Alberta Bissantz and Linda Strohmeyer; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives. He was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers and one sister. His funeral was held December 8, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Waynoka with The Rev. John Smith officiating.
