Mrs. Cannon, the daughter of the late Edward Charles Craft and Harriet Northam Charles Craft was born in Wilmington, NC on April 12, 1910. She attended Wilmington public schools and graduated from Duke University, class of 1932, with a degree in Religion. She was member of the Women's Honorary Order of the White Duchy and of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Mrs. Cannon married William Coltrane Cannon August 28, 1935 and they made their home in Concord, NC for over 50 years. Survived by her 5 daughters and 1 son—Louise Cannon Whitley, Harriet Cannon Crawford, Margaret Cannon West, Mary Bost Cannon Gray, Winslow Cannon Leatherman, William Coltrane Cannon, Jr. and by 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband William Cannon and one grandchild, John Michael Gray, Jr.

Mrs. Cannon's love of community was demonstrated in her commitment to her church, First Presbyterian, the Girl Scouts of America, and numerous other organizations. Mrs. Cannon was a well-known needle crafter. She and her daughters Mary Bost Gray and Winslow Leatherman, operated Twin Oaks Needlecraft for 16 years.

The family wishes to thank her nursing staff for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Cannon during her illness—Cindy Love, Judy Hudson, Barbara Taylor, Lynn Bailey, Maureen Tohill, Sarah Cureton, Angela Morrow, Whitney McManus, Jodie Stewart, and Heather Love.
