Maxine Jessie (Terrell) Barth, was born March 2, 1921, in rural Hayes County, Nebraska, to William and Carrye (Korell) Terrell and departed this life on December 5, 2009, at the age of 88 years.

Maxine grew up on the family farm north of Culbertson, Nebraska, especially enjoying riding horses. She attended country schools until entering high school. She then boarded in Hayes Center, Nebraska, and graduated from Hayes Center (Nebraska) High School in 1938, having taken Normal training. She taught for one year at a country school near the Terrell family farm home prior to meeting Clarence Barth, a young farmer from Culbertson. Nebraska. They were married April 9, 1939, which was Easter Sunday that year.

Maxine and Clarence farmed with his family for a few years and then moved with children Bette Lou and Terry to a farm in Chase County, Colorado. In 1945, they bought an irrigated farm east of Holyoke, Colorado', where they worked together, with Maxine spending many hours working in the field, irrigating and performing the other jobs of a dedicated farm wife. After 20 years, they sold the farm and moved to Holyoke, Colorado. She was a member of the Methodist Church throughout her life, remaining active until they entered the assisted living facility in Holyoke, Colorado

She fulfilled a dream when she attended NJC in Sterling, Colorado and graduated from the Practical Nursing Program. Using her training, she then worked until her retirement as an LPN at the nursing home in Holyoke, Colorado and later as an office nurse for Dr. Roark.

Clarence and Maxine loved to dance and attended many dances over the years. They enjoyed traveling with a trip to visit son Larry in Lima, Peru, as one of the highlights of their lives. Maxine played the piano and sang soprano beautifully, remembering all of the words of many songs. She also stitched beautiful needlework pictures of which she was very proud.

They sold their house in Holyoke, Colorado and entered Carriage House Assisted Living in October of 2000, the second residents in the new facility. As their health declined, they moved to the nursing home in Holyoke, Colorado where they continued to share a room until the death of Clarence. Maxine remained alone, which was her preference, in the same room for the next two years, enjoying playing bingo on Mondays and Fridays and Harvey's choir on Tuesday. She looked forward to visits from Bette Lou and Eldon nearly every day and for Terry and Vernette to visit and bring special banners and other gifts with every season or holiday change. She especially enjoyed visits from other children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they were able to come to Holyoke, Colorado.

Survivors are children; Bette Lou and Eldon McCormick, Terry and Vernette Barth of Holyoke, Colorado; Dennis and Patsy Barth of Loveland, Colorado; Jacque and Jack Geist of Omaha, Nebraska and Larry and Janet Barth of New Castle, Colorado; brother Gerald Duane Terrell and wife Pat of Weslaco, Texas, sisters-in-law; Catherine Terrell of Hayesville, Kansas; Helen Terrell of Watsonville, California, and brother-in-law; Clyde and Mary Anne Lockwood of North Platte, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives.
