Born Agnes May Smith in Matteawan (now Beacon), Dutchess County NY, the oldest child of Leonard C. Smith and Mary Olivia Hughson. Married Charles B. Bedell of Rockaway Beach, Queens County NY in 1905. Mother of Elsie R. Bedell (Mrs. Rowland Seaman), who is shown as an infant in the accompanying photograph. Aggie is still remembered with immense love and gratitude by her two granddaughters, whom she helped raise during the Great Depression and World War II.

"AGNES M. BEDELL
Mrs. Agnes Bedell, who had resided on the Beach for the past 42 years, died Tuesday morning in Kings County Hospital after a long illness at the age of 75. She was the wife of the late Charles B. Bedell, who died a little less than a year ago. She was a member of Echo Council, S. and D. of L. Her home was at 90-11 De Soto place.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Seaman of Rockaway Beach and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Snyder Funeral Parlors, with the Rev. Ellsworth L Richardson of the First Congregational Church officiating, and interment was at Rockville Cemetery under [the] direction of Minnie E. Snyder."
