Ashley Denae Roe was born on April 30, 1991 and for 18 years she was a light to all who knew and loved her. Ashley's earthly light went out tragically on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.
Ashley graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 2009. She was employed at Braums and had just completed CNA training at Central Vo-Tech. Ashley had hoped to pursue a career in nursing.
Ashley was very outgoing and personable. She loved meeting new people and her employment was an opportunity to do just that. Many people will remember her as "smiley" or "slick" as she was affectionately called. Ashley loved to tease and giggle, her laugh was absolutely infectious. Her smile and her presence would light the room when she entered.
Ashley loved motorcycles. Her uncle Jerry Don taught her how to ride and often took her for rides on his Harley. Ashley liked to fish, spend time with her family and friends and she was exceptionally fond of children, the elderly and the less fortunate.
Ashley was always quick to put others before herself. Ashley attended church at the Tri-County Church of Christ and loved all of the family she studied and worshipped with there. Ashley will be remembered for the very deep bonds she formed with her family, friends, classmates, teachers and everyone else with whom she had regular contact.
Ashley was waiting anxiously to become an aunt. Her brother Kaleb and his fiancée Katelyn Ninness are expecting their first child and Ashley was very excited. She loved children and could not wait to start spoiling this one. She often spoke of the things she had seen and wanted to buy for the baby.
Ashley will be missed terribly by her family, co-workers both present and past, and her many friends and acquaintances. If Ashley knew you, she thought of you as a friend. If you knew Ashley, you will remember her smile and her infectious laugh.
Ashley was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Otis Bagley and recently her "Grandma EE", Edith Bagley.
Ashley is survived by her mother, Cindy Roe of Shawnee; her grandparents, Jim and Shirley Roe of Cushing; brother, Kaleb and fiancée Katelyn; brother, Dyllon; uncle Dennis and Cindy; aunt Sherrie and Jerry Don Bean; uncle Kelly and Leslie Roe, all of Cushing; cousins, Tara Webb and Zack, Whitley Campbell and Daniel, Haley Ball, Sheyenne Ball, Nicholas Wotipka, Jason Wotipka and Danielle, Jerod Bean, Ashley McDonald and Jason, Kyle, Keeley, Waylon and Wyatt Ros. Ashley's extended family also includes Donnie and Thelma Bean of Parkland, Craig, Janie and Chelsi Calkins of Cushing and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Cushing High School Auditorium. Burial will follow at Flynn Cemetery, Cushing.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
