Gerald William Sweany is the son of Frank William Sweany and his second wife, Desta Okle Crandall. Gerald is the first of three children and the first son.

Gerald William Sweany, 89, of Leesburg, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

Mr. Sweany was a professional Painter in Construction. Born in Noble County, Indiana, he moved to Leesburg from Edwardsburg, Mich. in 1987. He was a member of the Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, Ind. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and Korea.

He is survived by his Wife: Lois Sweany of Leesburg; Son: Charles A. Sweany of Fruitport, Mich.; Step-son: Boyd Nutting of Marquette, Mich.; one Grandson and three Step Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Danny Harvey officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home, Sunday, December 14, 2003 from 1:00 PM 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at 10:30 AM with full Military Honors by the Lake County War Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Lois Sweany for Park benches at Lakeside Villages. Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
