Mrs. Bruce was one of Vivian's oldest citizens having been brought her by her parents when a child of only a few months from McKinney, Texas where she was born.
She was an active member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, and one of their oldest members. During her lifetime here she saw the Village of Vivian grow from a small logging community to its present modern city. She attended the first school built here, which was a one room log cabin.
Interment was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery with the Reverend Terry Douglas officiating.
Survivors include five sons, Clinton Bruce and Davis Bruce both of Vivian, LaPrelle Bruce of Blackville, S.C., Dalton Bruce and Tom Bruce both of Gonzales; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Sharp of Springhill, and Mrs. Cena Lee Murphy of Vivian; one brother Albert Rolland of Vivian; two sisters, Mrs Annie Holland and Mrs. Cordia Spurlin, both of Vivian; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
