She was born September 18, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William H. and Marjean Anderson Day.
She attended schools in Salt Lake City and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma then returned to Salt Lake City, where she graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Consumer Studies.
Karen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was very artistic, and was an accomplished dancer, especially in ballet. Karen taught ballroom dance with Rowland in public school arts education programs, and she worked with many worthwhile theater productions. Karen was very energetic and out-going. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She raised and groomed champion french poodles, and delighted in horseback riding and barrel-racing with her horse "Melody".
Karen is survived by Rowland Butler; her children: Shawn David (Adrienne) Guier, Heather Noel G. (Jeff) Borsuk, Christine Nicole G. (Nick) Bagnaro; grandchildren: MaKayla and MacKenzie Guier, Jake Borsuk and Isabella Bagnaro; father: William H. (Nancy) Day; sister: DeEtte Day Kercher; brother: Wm. Maurice "Morey" (Trudi) Day; aunts: Margaret G. Day and Trudy D. Edvalson; uncles: M. Ed (JoAnne) Anderson and Reese Barker; many nieces, nephews and cousins; longtime friends: Barbara Kudlik and Holly Margetts. Preceded in death by son, Nathan James Guier; mother, Marjean A. Day; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Paul Kercher; uncles: John Marshall Day and Raymond C. Edvalson; aunts: Naomi A. Townsend and V. "Teddy" A. Barker.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Karen's life on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East).
