Jesse Reynolds and his wife Wellmet were Quakers who migrated from North Carolina to eastern Illinois. When they first arrived in Illinois, their Quaker membership was transferred to the Lick Creek Monthly Meeting. By the end of the 1820s, in 1829, Jesse and his wife were disowned for disunity with the Honey Creek Monthly Meeting. Several of their children were also disowned for marrying outside the Quaker traditions.
