James Marion Horine, 75-year-old farmer was found dead Wednesday afternoon at his farm home located in the heart of the Purdy community last Wednesday, August 20.

He was found by a daughter, Carrie Bolinger, who had become uneasy about her father after he could not be found at home, and had gone to see about him. Although cause of death cause of death could not be definitely be established due to the decomposed state of the body, it is thought that he became overheated while hoeing corn.

He had started to the house and had apparently fainted and fallen, wounding himself until he bled profusely. He had managed to get to the barn lot gate before falling again where he was found. No definite time was established for his death, but it is thought he died either Monday night or Tuesday morning, August 18 or 19.

Mr. Horine was born in Missouri, August 27, 1876, moving to Arkansas when a small child, with his father and mother, Marion and Margaret Pierce Horine. He was married to Myrtle Myers, who lived near Marble and they had eight children, two of whom preceded him in death. Mrs. Horine died about 32 years ago. The deceased was a member of the Odd Fellow lodge and had been a christian for may years although he was not affiliated with any church.

Funeral services were held at Alabam Thursday morning, August 21, at 10:30, with Revs. Cecil Garrison and Lester Cline conducting. Interment was made in the Alabam cemetery under the direction of the Brashears Funeral home.

Survivors were three sons, Walter of route 2, Huntsville, Noble of Visalia, Calif., and Woodrow of route 2, Huntsville; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Stansell of Wiler, Idaho, Mrs. Essie Derie Payette, Idaho, and Mrs. Claburne Bolinger of route 2, Huntsville; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Smith of Huntsville, Mrs. Maggie Jones of Huntsville and Mrs. Ova Howell of Locust Grove, Okla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
