According to the book "Cook, Murphy, Hodges Families of Early Virginia" by Elizabeth L. Nichols, Guy Murphy was the son of Rufus A. & Florence (nee Monroe) Murphy and the grandson of David Henderson & Rachel (nee Wood) Murphy. David Henderson Murphy was the son of Rev. William Murphy [Jr], the name sake of the cemetery.

According to "History of Rev. Willam Murphy and his Descendants: 1798-1918" by Alice Murphy Sturgess, in chapter 9 she stated Guy Murphy was the son of Henderson Monda Murphy and Mary J. (nee Beck) Murphy. Henderson Monda Murphy was the son of Henderson (the elder) Murphy and Emily (nee Hanlin) Murphy who are both buried in this cemetery. Henderson Monda Murphy supposedly later on in life went to Colorado Springs, CO from the 1918 book. But upon search on Findagrave.com, Henderson Monda Murphy born Apr. 9, 1858 as Alice Murphy Strugess stated he was born, his burial was located in Inglewood, CA. Most likley this is the case as H.M. Murphy & Mary Murphy's other son, Alva, is buried in this cemetery.
