Miss Kate Glenn Hardin, a retired York County teacher, died December 16, 1992. She had just finished having lunch at her favorite restaurant Watson's in downtown Rock Hill with her sister-in-law Catherine Murphy Hardin when she complained of a pain in her chest. She died early the next morning in a Charlotte, North Carolina hospital from a sudden aneurysm.
Miss Hardin was born in Washington, DC March 12, 1917 to the Reverend Edward King Hardin, Jr. and Kate Glenn Hardin. The Hardins remained in the Baltimore, Maryland area until her father was transferred early in 1918 to Asheville, N.C., where he died of the Spanish flu several months later. Miss Hardin's mother and her three brothers moved to Chester, where she taught school. Eventually her mother became Dean of Women at Winthrop College until she retired in 1951. During this time, daughter Kate received her BA from Winthrop and eventually her MA. From what information could be found, Miss Hardin most likely started her teaching career in Chester County, SC, eventually moving to the Rock Hill, S.C. school district, where she taught high school Latin. Sometime after 1972, Miss Hardin started teaching in the Fort Mill, S.C. schools, from which she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Edward King Hardin, III, Lyles Glenn Hardin, and William Lawrence Hardin.

She was cremated by Yates Crematory in Charlotte, N.C.
