Tony Reed Higgins, 61, of Union City, died Nov. 25, 2009, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Hill Cemetery near Rives, with the Rev. Leon Elder officiating. Friends may call at White-Ranson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Gary Gumm, Dan Baggett, Thomas Smith, Rodney Quinn, Frank Armstrong and David Madding.
He was born June 7, 1948, in Portageville, Mo., son of the late Omer Reed and Florida (Douglas) Higgins. He married Rose Armstrong Sept. 3, 1994. She survives. He was employed with the Union City Housing Authority in the maintenance department. He was an Army veteran and a member of Bible Baptist Church near Union City.
Survivors also include his stepmother, Geniva Higgins of Rives; three daughters, Julie Burpo of Mississippi, Janiffer Rose Holcomb of Memphis and Toni Renee Smith of Newbern; five sons, Anthony Reed Higgins and Larry Reed Higgins, both of Hickman, Omer Reed Higgins and David Curtis Madding, both of Union City, and Terry Reed Higgins of Mississippi; 28 grandchildren; six sisters, Barbara Bryson of Nashville, Frances Bell of Texas, Teresa Roberson of Union City and Liz Daughton, Betty Dutton and Carol Lee McDaniel, all of Rives; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his infant brother.
